Inline measuring system

FUHR has been building and developing its own wire measuring devices for several years. They are characterised by precision, robustness and a particularly good cost-performance ratio.

FUHR uses these systems in new mills, but also supplies them for existing and third-party lines.

Overview

Tactile measurement

In contrast to conventional laser shadow measuring systems typically used in the drawing of round wires, the tactile and robust measuring systems have proven themselves very well in profile rolling mills.

This is why FUHR relies on tactile measuring systems in which the wire is scanned with diamond-studded, high-resolution displacement measuring systems.

Guiding rolls

To avoid tilting of the wire and thus, measurement errors, FUHR uses a combination of several guide rollers. These are mounted close to the measuring point and prevent falsified measuring results.

Positioning

With a width of 620 mm, the measuring device can easily be integrated into any rolling mill. Whether inside or outside the rolling stand, the FUHR measuring devices can be cooled with air or with rolling oil.

Alternatives

Tactile probe

The material is measured via a tactile probe. The sensor tips are made of diamonds or rubies, which minimises measurement errors.

Measuring rolls

Depending on the wire geometry, it is also possible to use special sensing rollers for the measurement. We will be happy to help you choose the right measuring medium.
